How I lost 10kg in almost 6 months

Back in August 2016, I weighed, at some point, 90Kg. I’m 1.75 m tall, so you can imagine, that 90kg would make look really chubby. Back in 2012-2013 when I finished college, before I moved back home (different story, for another time), I had somewhere around 65 kg. In a matter of 2,5-3 years I’ve gained a little more over 25kg.

I didn’t like this weight. It was uncomfortable, my clothes didn’t fit me properly anymore and overall gave a weird feeling. It was like it wasn’t me in that body.

So I’ve decided to make a change. I think this is the most important thing you need to make. To make that decision and that commitment to start losing weight. That you will do what is necessary, that you will stick to the program. Because if you start doing and you do it for only a few days, it won’t help you at all. (more…)

How to beat procrastination

Ah, procrastination! The pompous word that is starting to replace laziness. We aren’t lazy anymore, we are procrastinating. Because lazy is an adjective, while procrastinating is a verb.

I’ll go a little bit into grammar (which, I’ll admit it, it might not be my forte). The adjective is used to describe things, while verbs are defined by action. This is why we are more comfortable about saying “I procrastinate” rather than “I’m being lazy”. Lazy will attach us a label, while procrastination is an action that we do, and we can stop it, eventually.

Taking it step by step

 

Life is full of things to do. Sometimes there are too many that gather on our list. And in our own bravery we think that we can do it all. At the same time, if possible. But is not possible. This is the truth. It’s not possible to do it at the same time. It’s not even possible to do it all. We need to choose what we want to do. To establish our priorities and take it step by step.

In the last couple of months, I have been working a lot. I’ve worked at my job a lot, I’ve worked on my own projects a lot. I’ve wanted for it all, believing that everything is possible. I have to do it now, otherwise it will be too late, I was thinking.

Why do we put in the work?

Why do we wake up in the morning and go to work? Why are we even going to work? What’s the point of all of this? And I keep saying we like it will be a big and smart article, but it will be mostly about me, so excuse me for being an obnoxious narcissist. I’m a millennial so that’s ok. Supposedly we are more narcissistic than the other generations (gasp!)

Since I brought the millennial generation, that we so kindly were named, let’s talk a little bit about this. About my generation. I won’t dare to say that these things are generally specific to everybody, but there are things that I hear and see almost every day in my life.
